Description

Attractive limited edition original 19.5 x 27.5 concert poster for Nirvana at the Palaghiaccio di Marino near Rome, Italy, on February 22, 1994, numbered 884/1000, signed in the lower border in pencil by artist Alessandro Locchi. The surreal artwork, inspired by Andy Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s soup can, reinterprets it as "Nirvana Utero Soup," incorporating the winged anatomical figure from the band’s 'In Utero' album cover: the figure rises from the can, symbolizing Nirvana’s poignant themes of rebirth and decay. In very fine condition.

Shortly after this show, on March 4, 1994, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was hospitalized in Rome following an overdose of benzos and alcohol. His management agency said that the overdose was accidental, and that he was suffering from influenza and fatigue. However, Cobain's wife, Courtney Love, later confirmed that the overdose had been a suicide attempt: 'He took 50 pills. He probably forgot how many he took. But there was a definite suicidal urge, to be gobbling and gobbling and gobbling.' The incident led to the cancelation of the rest of Nirvana's European tour, and Cobain would be found dead in his Seattle home just six weeks later.
