Mercury-Atlas 6 recovery cover with a stamped cachet honoring the "U.S. Navy, Project Mercury Recovery Force, Spacecraft Friendship 7, Astronaut John H. Glenn, Jr.," featuring an affixed image of the Mercury 7 astronauts, canceled onboard the USS Noa prime recovery ship: "U.S.S. Noa, Feb 20 1962, P.M., (DD-841)." Addressed in type to "Mrs. Trudy Woods, 151 No. 6th Street, New Hyde Park, L.I., USA." In fine condition.
The "P.M." in the postmark distinguishes this cover as canceled aboard the prime recovery ship on February 20th; those without the "P.M." are backdated and therefore less desirable. Only fifteen of these covers with a "P.M." postmark are known, with 20 to 30 estimated to exist. It is therefore one of the rarest of all prime recovery covers from any mission.
