Description

Two crew-signed flown patch displays presented to astronaut Joseph R. Tanner, who flew on four Space Shuttle missions: STS-66, STS-82, STS-97, and STS-115. Includes: a flown 4˝-diameter embroidered STS-29 mission patch, affixed to a 16 x 20 display with photographs from the mission and a printed caption, "This patch was flown aboard the Orbiter Discovery, STS-29, March 13-18, 1989," inscribed in silver ink, "To Joe Tanner—with appreciation for all your support!—STS-29 Crew," and signed by the full crew of Michael Coats, John Blaha, James Bagian, James Buchli, and Bob Springer; and a flown 4˝-diameter embroidered STS-91 mission patch, affixed to a 20 x 16 display with photographs from the mission and a printed caption, "This crew patch was flown aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, STS-91, June 2-12, 1998, during the ninth and final docking mission with the Russian space station Mir," inscribed in gold ink, "Joe, Thank you for all your preparations that made Discovery ready to go to MIR!," and signed by the partial crew of Charlie Precourt, Dom Gorie, Janet Kavandi, Andy Thomas, and Franklin Chang-Díaz. In overall fine condition.
