Description

Nearly 170 unpublished candid photographs of the Ramones touring New England in the 1980s

Collection of roughly 170 never-before-seen candid photos of punk rock legends the Ramones, which were originally taken by a photographer (and close friend of the band) around the New England area between 1981 and 1989. The photos, which range in size from 3.5 x 5 to 6 x 4, glossy and satin-finish, contain dozens of terrific images of the band—Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, Marky, and Richie Ramone—the majority picturing the group performing on stage before raucous crowds of young punk fans from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Although the photos lack any date marks, numerous images have been placed to the following locations and venues: Club Casino at Hampton Beach, NH, on July 3, 1981; Hartford or New Haven, CT, on either March 25 or 26, 1983; Manchester, NH, on March 23, 1984; Scotch 'n' Sounds in Brockton, MA, on March 30, 1984; The Casbah in Manchester, NH, on February 16, 1985; University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH, on April 12, 1985; and The Living Room in Providence, RI, on October 12, 1985. In overall fine condition. An impressive collection of rare Ramones photographs loaded with great shots and punk rock energy. Per the consignor: ‘Because we were friends of the band, we were allowed to shoot whenever we wanted, not just during the first three songs as the other photographers were allowed. Many were taken from the side of the stage, or the pit in between the crowd and stage, or from backstage balconies.’
