Six original vintage circa 1976 glossy 10 x 8 photographs of images taken on the surface of Mars by the Viking 1 lander, including: a spectacular panorama of the Martian landscape, showing a dramatic dune field with features remarkably similar to many seen in the deserts of Planet Earth; a stunning panorama showing the equipment of the Viking 1 lander framed by Mars's rocky terrain; a close-up of a trench excavated by the Viking 1 surface sampler; a close-up of the collector head of the Viking 1 surface sampler, full of Martian soil; and two others showing the Viking amidst the Martian landscape. Four have mimeographed NASA press captions affixed to the reverse, dated from July–August 1976, and all have "This Paper Manufactured by Kodak" watermarks. In overall fine condition.
