Original vintage glossy 10 x 8 silver gelatin photograph of the first panorama ever taken on the surface of Mars, captured by the Viking 1 lander on July 20, 1976, showing the lander's undeployed sample arm, antennae, calibration charts, and other apparatus amidst the rocky dunes of the Martian landscape. Reverse bears “A Kodak Paper” watermarks and an affixed mimeographed NASA press caption, in part: "First panoramic view by Viking 1 from the surface of Mars. (Note to Editors: Top photo forms left half of panoramic view. Bottom photo should abut top photo for complete 300° panorama)." In fine condition.
