Exceptionally rare flown gold-plated sterling silver Gemini 4 Fliteline medallion, approximately 1˝ in diameter, with a raised design of the mission insignia on the face, and the reverse engraved with the mission dates, "3–7 June 1965," and hallmarked "Sterling" at the bottom. Condition is mint state, with noticeable fading to the gilt plating. An elusive, highly desirable gold-plated medallion carried into low earth orbit during the second manned Gemini mission, examples of which are virtually nonexistent.
RR Auction confirms that this flown Gemini 4 Fliteline medallion was professionally tested by a Thermo Scientific Niton machine, which detected the presence of gilt plating.
From the collection of Bailey K. Howard, the originator of the Fliteline medallions.
