From the personal collection of legendary rock photographer Barry Feinstein—an original semi-glossy 16 x 20 silver gelatin photograph of Peter, Paul and Mary performing the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963, with the imposing Washington Monument towering over the massive crowd. Signed and titled on the reverse in pencil by the photographer, "Barry Feinstein, Peter, Paul & Mary, March on Washington, Aug. 1963," beneath Feinstein's copyright stamp. In very fine condition.
Although Martin Luther King, Jr. was the headline act with his enduring 'I Have a Dream' speech, several folk artists performed during the March on Washington: Joan Baez led the crowd in several verses of 'We Shall Overcome' and 'Oh Freedom,' Bob Dylan performed 'When the Ship Comes In,' and Peter, Paul and Mary sang 'If I Had a Hammer' and covered Dylan's 'Blowin' in the Wind.' Of their performance, Peter Yarrow said: 'It was our intention not to entertain, not to make people take a moment off, but to focus on why we were there. And when we did so, it was euphoric.'

Barry Feinstein passed away in 2011, and since then his estate has offered posthumous estate stamped limited edition photographs from his archives; this example, printed during his lifetime and deriving from his personal collection, is superior to those gallery offerings.
