Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity from Bean, who writes: “I hereby certify that the enamel pin from the Cernan Earth and Space Center was part of my personal pin collection. I acquired many commemorative pins in my career and I kept the brightly colored pins in my art studio where I paint every day. This pin was given to me when I attended the dedication of the Cernan Earth and Space Center at Triton College, River Grove, Illinois. In October of 1963, Gene Cernan and I were selected for the astronaut program as part of the group known as the ‘Apollo 14.’ Gene flew in Gemini 9, Apollo 10, and he was the Commander of Apollo 17. The last man on the moon, Gene was a close friend, a proud American, and a great Astronaut.”
