Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 15.25 x 10, September 23, 1853. President Pierce appoints Edwin C. Bailey as "Deputy Postmaster, at Boston, in the State of Massachusetts." Neatly and prominently signed at the conclusion in ink by President Franklin Pierce, and countersigned by Secretary of State William L. Marcy. The white paper seal affixed at the lower left remains intact. Handsomely suede-matted and framed with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 32 x 18.5. In fine condition.
