Russian composer (1875-1956) who concentrated primarily on monumental operas, ballets, and cantatas. Scarce ALS in Russian, signed “R. Gliere,” one page, 5.75 x 8.25, May 1, 1933. Handwritten letter to Ivan Grigoryevich, in part (translated): "I will do everything in my power to see to it that you receive the score for 'After Reading a Psalm' on favorable terms. There are two copies of the full score in Moscow: the manuscript in the Conservatory library and a copy in the Music Publishing House. The other day they promised to tell me the conditions necessary for having the score copied for you. At the Publishing House they spoke of rental fees, at the Conservatory of rights of ownership. How much it will cost and how much time the copying will take I will let you know in my next letter. I am very glad you are doing so well in Vienna and very grateful to you for thinking of performing my symphony." In fine condition.
