The handheld radio measures approximately 3˝ x 6˝ x 1.25˝, and features a detachable antenna, operation guide and Morse code legend on the reverse, and dial for "Off," "Voice (296.8)," "BCN (282.8)," and "MCW (282.8)." Although the Sylvania label is missing from the front, the radio can be distinguished from its military counterpart, the AN/PRC-90 survival radio, by these frequencies, which were unique in this application to the Apollo program.
