Contract related to the motion picture rights for the 1946 musical St. Louis Woman, in part: “The undersigned are also fully aware that concurrently herewith LOEW'S has retained the services of HAROLD ARLEN and JOHNNY MERCER as song writers for the possible writing of new songs for the motion picture version of the Property and has agreed to compensate HAROLD ARLEN and JOHNNY MERCER jointly therefor in the sum of SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,500.00) for each such new song which is actually written and is contained in the motion picture version of the Property as released.” Signed nicely at the conclusion in black ink by Harold Arlen and in blue ballpoint by Johnny Mercer, and countersigned by producers Arthur Freed and Sam Katz. Includes a 14-page rider that lists several musical numbers from the production, including the hit song ‘Come Rain or Come Shine.’ In fine condition.
