Scarce ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge letterhead, March 19, 1912. Handwritten letter to Mr. Worthington, in full: "Very many thanks for your very kind congratulations. Those old days at Owens College were very pleasant and I am delighted to get anything what like your letter recalls to me. Believe me." In fine condition. In 1870, Thomson was admitted to Owens College in Manchester at the unusually young age of 14. Thomson began experimenting with contact electrification and soon published his first scientific paper.
