In full: "Thank you for sending me 'The Dance of the Pilgrim.' I look forward to reading it soon, especially in view of Norman Mailer's comparison of J.D. Maguire to Reinhold Niebuhr. Your efforts on my behalf are deeply appreciated as is your concern for my family. Please give my best to Bill." In fine condition, with light stains to the right margin. Carter would go on to be elected president just weeks later, on November 2, 1976.
