Political leader from Pennsylvania best known for engrossing the Declaration of Independence on parchment (1736–1829). Revolutionary War-dated ADS signed “T. Matlack, Sec’y,” one page, 6.25 x 4.5, August 29, 1777. Handwritten “Extract from the minutes” of the Supreme Executive Council in Philadelphia, in full: “On motion, Agreed, That the Cheaveau de frize Pilots now in the pay of the state be discharged.” Signed below by Timothy Matlack as secretary. In fine condition, with a stain to the lower left corner.
