Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania (1742–1798), and one of only six men who signed both the Declaration and the U.S. Constitution. Partly-printed DS, endorsed on the reverse, “Wilson,” one page, 8.5 x 7, October 27, 1771. A Cumberland County legal document ordering the containment of Philip Tabor to ensure his presence “at Carlisle, at our County Court of Common Pleas…to satisfy John Wilson as well of a certain Sum of Eight pounds five Shillings & five pence to the said John in our said Court…for his Damages which he sustained by Occasion of certain Promise and Assumption, by the aforesaid Philip.” Signed at the conclusion by Turbutt Francis, and endorsed on the reverse by James Wilson, above which are docketing notations headed "January Term 1771." In fine condition. In very good to fine condition, with toning and minor splitting to the folds.
