Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania (1719–1806). Autograph document signed “J. Smith, Atty & Def’t, by spl. War,” one page, 7.75 x 11.25, January 1765. A handwritten legal document from York County regarding a case between Michael Drumgold and John Blackburn, in part: “Michael Drumgold late of York County Yeoman…was summoned to answer John Blackburn of a Plea that he render him one hundred & eleven Pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania which to him he owes & unjustly detains.” Signed at the conclusion by James Smith. In fine condition, with old archival repairs to the back of the folds.
