Vintage matte-finish 3.5 x 5.25 postcard photo of the celebrated writer hard at work, boldly signed in ink in Cyrillic, "M. Gorki, Capri, 26/m 1907.” In fine condition. Gorky moved to Capri in November 1906. He initially planned to stay for a few months but ended up living there for more than seven years, until December 1913. During this Italian period, works written by Gorky include A Confession, The Life of a Useless Man, The Life of Matvei Kozhemyakin, and many more.
