Partly-printed DS, signed “Thos. Melville" and "H. Dearborn,” one page, 13.25 x 8, June 9, 1815. Port of Boston ship's pass, which reads: “I Benjamin Hallet Master or Commander of the Sloop called the ten Sisters of Barnstable do swear to the Truth of the within Manifest; and that to the best of my Knowledge and Belief, all the Goods, Wares and Merchandize of Foreign Growth or Manufacture, therein contained, were legally imported, and the Duties thereupon paid or secured. So help me GOD.” Approved and signed below by Henry Dearborn as collector and by Thomas Mevill as naval officer, who both grant Hallet and his sloop passage to the port of New York. Mounted and framed with an engraved portrait of Melvill (with facsimile signature) to an overall size of 21 x 24.75. In very good to fine condition, with light edge wear, and scattered light staining.
