Description

Italian artist and writer (1888–1978) who founded the scuola metafisica art movement, which profoundly influenced the surrealists. Vintage color glossy 7 x 9 photo of the Italian artist in later age, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, "A Marisa del Re, cordialment, Giorgio de Chirico, Roma 17 April 1969.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 15. In fine condition, with light fading to the image, and a few small creases, one on Chirico's forehead.

Marisa del Re founded and directed the Marisa del Re Gallery in New York City from 1969 to 2001, representing exclusive international artists like Robert Indiana, Conrad Marca-Relli, Valerio Adami, Bettina Werner, Arnaldo Tomato, and many others. Her important contribution to the artistic and cultural life of New York is reflected in the organization of countless successful exhibitions, both in her gallery and in the most important American museums.
