Eldest son (1759–1838) of General John Stark and his wife Molly Stark, who served with his father in the 1st New Hampshire Regiment at the Battle of Bunker Hill, Trenton, and Princeton. ALS, one page, 7.25 x 8.75, July 13, 1797. Handwritten letter to "Mr. D. Gilman," in part: "I enclose a note for four Hundred Dolls. at the same time forward $202.20 to pay the installment and discount. I must again solicit another instance of your goodness to pass through the usual forms. I have rec'd no further advices from the Ship; shall probably see you in three or four weeks." In very good condition, with scattered old tape stains, edge tears, and minor edge loss.
