Civil engineer and Union general (1801–1899) known for his defense of the Union right flank at Culp's Hill during the Battle of Gettysburg. Civil War–dated partly-printed DS, signed “Geo. S. Greene,” one page, 8 x 10, May 15, 1862. Army of the United States document headed "Certificate of Disability for Discharge," in part: "Milo B. Collins (Private), Unattached recruit of the Sixtieth Regiment of N.Y.S. Vols. was enlisted by Lieut. G. M. Gleason of the sixtieth Regiment of N. Y. S. Vols. at DeKalb, N.Y., on the Eleventh Day of February 1862, to serve three years…I have carefully examined the said Milo B. Collins…and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of…his having varicose veins that extend above the knee."
