Description

LS signed “Henry Irving,” written in the hand of his secretary, Dracula author Bram Stoker, one page, 5.75 x 8, Lyceum Company Tour letterhead, October 30, 1888. Stoker writes, in full: "Let me thank you for your kind letter and your courtesy sending me your admirable letter in the Evening Dispatch. Your championship is hearty and chivalrous and the exposure of the true status of the man Diggs is complete." In very good to fine condition, with folds and creases, soiling, and paper loss to the upper left corner. Stoker worked as business manager for Henry Irving's world-famous Lyceum Theatre in London between 1879 and 1898, where he supplemented his income by writing a large number of sensational novels—his most famous being the vampire tale Dracula, published in 1897.
