Description

Complete issue of the New-York Herald from April 26, 1865, eight pages, 16.5 x 23.25, with the front page dedicated to coverage of the "Obsequies to Abraham Lincoln" in New York City. The columns are lined in black as a mourning issue, with several headlines reading: "Over One Hundred Fifty thousand View the Body," "Three Long Trains of Sadly Disappointed Mourners," "The Dead March," "Nearly One Hundred Fifty Thousand View the Body," "One of the Most Imposing Displays the World Ever Saw," "Three-Quarters of a Million Silent Spectators," "All Nationalities, All Religions, All Trades, All Classes, All Politics, All Colors Represented," and "The Funeral Car." In very good to fine condition, with top edges uncut, wear to folds, a few small edge tears, and a contemporary pencil notation to the top margin.
