Civil War-dated ALS signed “J. Longstreet, Maj. Gen.,” one page, 5.25 x 8, December 6, 1861, addressed to General P. G. T. Beauregard, who writes his reply at the bottom in pencil and signs with his initials, “G. T. B.” Longstreet’s handwritten letter, headed “Taylors,” in full: “Best two of the Redoubts have been set apart for the batteries of my Division. I have ordered sheds over the embrasures of these and blackened logs put in there: no others. If you desire me to have others fixed please advise me.” Beauregard’s reply at the bottom: “Ans. Arrange all to be garrisoned by the 2’d Division.” In fine condition.
