Description

American military officer (1803-1862) who fought with distinction in the Mexican-American War. Upon hearing of the secession of Texas in 1861, he resigned his Army commission and became Confederate commander of the Western Department, making him the second-highest-ranking general in the CSA. Carte-de-visite photograph of Albert Sidney Johnston, 2.25 x 4, featuring a portrait of the Confederate General wearing his military uniform in a half-length pose. Published by E. & H. T. Anthony of New York. In fine condition.
