Union general (1818-1885) best remembered for leading the losing Union forces in the First Battle of Bull Run; later he was in charge of the army which defended Washington. LS signed “Irvin McDowell, A.A.G.,” one page, 7.75 x 8.75, March 29, 1848. Letter from "Head Quarters, Army of Occupation, Monterey, Mex.," to Capt. C. W. Davis. In full: "The General Commanding directs me to say that the charges preferred against you by Major Vinton, will be submitted to a Court of Inquiry." In fine condition.
