Description

"I have been busier than a cat on a tin roof"

ALS signed “Louis Armstrong, Satchmo,” one page on the reverse of a 8.5 x 11 'Lose Weight The 'Satchmo' Way' flyer (featuring his facsimile signature), June 19, 1970. Handwritten letter to Harry Paul, in full: "Please excuse such delays as answering your very fine letters, etc., but I have been busier than a cat on a tin roof. I've begun to feel good again. And will soon be back in the Sale Mines again (Meaning back to work.) Lucille and I are getting ready to fly out to California where there's a big concert given in my honour. It will be good for me to fly such a long distance (it's been long time since I have flown) after almost three years of illness. I'm O.K. now so that's all that matters. Lucille send her best. I would be glad to get the scrapbook, will be glad to see you again soon." In fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the top edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope (addressed in Armstrong's hand), affixed to a scrapbook page along with a 'Satchmo-Slogan: Leave It All Behind Ya' promo card and a packet of the Armstrong-endorsed Swiss-Kriss herbal laxative.
