Original circa 1945 matte-finish 11 x 14 photograph of American Navy and Coast Guard landing craft on the darkened shores of Iwo Jima’s Red Beach as Marines unload supplies for the forthcoming battle. The photograph, originally taken by Paul Queenan of the United States Coast Guard, pictures Marine squad members from the 2nd Separate Engineer Battalion, Co. B, which had sailed from APRA Harbor in Guam on February 16, 1945. In fine condition, with light silvering to darker areas, and some crazing to borders. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA, which identifies this as a ‘Type I’ photograph.
