American pianist, bandleader, arranger, and composer (1897–1952) who was important in the development of big band jazz and swing music. He was one of the most prolific black musical arrangers and, along with Duke Ellington, is considered one of the most influential arrangers and bandleaders in jazz history. Vintage semi-glossy 8 x 10 photo of Henderson at the microphone by Maurice of Chicago, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Flash Evans, fine people! Sincerely, Fletcher Henderson.” In very good condition, with two moderately heavy diagonal creases intersecting at Fletcher's mouth. Flash Evans was a dancer and stand-up comedian of the era.
