Untranslated handwritten letter by Saint-Saens, offering condolences and thanking his correspondent for all that he owes her for the "incomparable creation of Henry VIII." In fine condition. An opera in four acts, Henry VIII covers the period in Henry VIII's life when the king was attempting to divorce Queen Catherine of Aragon in favour of marrying Anne Boleyn, a move rejected by the Church. It premiered at the Académie Nationale de Musique, Paris, on March 5, 1883.
