French neurologist (1857–1904) best known as the namesake of Tourette syndrome, a neurological condition characterized by tics; his main contributions in medicine were in the fields of hypnosis and hysteria. ALS in French, signed “Gilles de la Tourette,” one page on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 3.5, personal letterhead, March 16, 1901. Untranslated handwritten letter by the notable French neurologist. In fine condition. A very rare autograph of an important scientist, whose name continues to be frequently referenced in popular culture and in medical literature to this day.
