Two items: a TLS signed “Gerald R. Ford,” one page, 7.5 x 10.5, personal letterhead. February 18, 1980, letter to Albert L. Riedel, in part: “Thank you for your fine letter in support of my candidacy for the Presidency in 1980. In October of last year, I issued a statement which set forth my views, and have enclosed a copy for your information. My position has not changed at this point. If my party wanted me as its candidate, I would accept. I have also stated that I would reconsider my position if ‘unforeseen circumstances’ developed. I do not feel, at this time, that such circumstances have taken place”; and a felt tip signature, “Gerald Ford,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card, which bears an affixed authenticity label. In overall fine condition, with two small tears to the letter, and adhesive residue to reverse of card.
