Irish Illustrator (1860–1920) best known for his pen-and-ink illustrations of works by authors such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and J. M. Barrie. Two original illustrations by Hugh Thomson, including: one pen-and-ink drawing accomplished by Thomson on an off-white 10.25 x 12.5 sheet, annotated on the reverse, "From 'Evelina' by Frances Burney, 'The Captain took me aside'"; and one pen-and-ink drawing accomplished by Thomson on an off-white 5.75 x 9.5 sheet, entitled "Much might be said on both sides," stamped "Macmillan & Co., 18 Jun 85, London," in the upper right, and matted to an overall size of 12.5 x 15.5. In fine condition, with some light soiling.
