Description

King of Prussia (born 1712) from 1740 until his death in 1786, whose political prowess and enlightened attitudes toward religion, learning, and the humanities earned him the sobriquet 'Frederick the Great.' LS in French, signed “Frederic,” one page, 7.5 x 9.25, October 15, 1784. Letter to the widow of Captain Koeningsmark, informing her that he awaits further information on the captain's death, expressing regrets and condolences, telling her (translated): "I pray to God that He has you and goes there sainted and dignified kept." In fine condition, with scattered light foxing.
