Description

Union general (1816–1894) who led forces at Shenandoah, Red River, and elsewhere. Prior to the Civil War, he served as governor of Massachusetts and speaker of the US House of Representatives. Ink signature, "N. P. Banks,” on an off-white 3 x 1.5 card, mounted on an engraved portrait, matted, and framed to an overall size of 9.75 x 11.75. In very good to fine condition, with some scattered soiling.
