With my kindest regards for your excellent father.” In fine condition.
For his service in the American Civil War, William Watts Hart Davis (1820-1910) was brevetted a Brigadier General of the United States Volunteers, a rank awarded to him on March 13, 1865, ‘for gallant and meritorious services, during operations against Charleston, South Carolina.’ Outside of his military service, Davis worked as a journalist, author, and government official. He was also an avid historian and founded the Bucks County Historical Society. He wrote several books on topics ranging from local genealogy to military and political history.
