Highly appealing vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13.5 portrait photo of John F. Kennedy taken after being nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate in August of 1960, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, “For Ezra Glaser — with every good wish, John Kennedy.” Framed to an overall size of 12.5 x 15.75. In fine condition. Although taken in the summer of 1960 by Alfred Eisenstaedt, this was the preferred portrait Kennedy would sign and give out during the beginning of his administration.
The recipient, Ezra Glaser (1913-2010), was a lifelong senior-level employee in government service who served as a statistician in the U.S. National Recovery Administration, National Resources Planning Board, and the Navy Department, amongst others. In 1962, Glaser was appointed as the Assistant Commissioner of Patents, which was ostensibly when Kennedy presented him with this photograph.
