Teacher and humanitarian (1821–1912) best known for founding the relief organization the American Red Cross. ALS, one page, 5 x 6.75, May 30, 1908. Handwritten letter to "Roscoe," in part: "Your letter is just handed me, and I do not lose a moment in assuring you that you had no need of a page of reasons for removing from your present quarters. You have no doubt made the best selection for new ones that could be; but any change will, in my judgment be for the better. For two years I have seen only hard work & financial failures ahead of you where you were. I had little to offer and few suggestions to make—I am prayerfully glad that some one has better things in store for you." In fine condition.
