Description

TLS signed by Carole Lombard on behalf of herself and her famous husband, “Carol & Clark Gable,” one page, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, October 10, 1941. Letter to Charles L. Horn at the Federal Cartridge Company, in full: We were sorry as H––– that you didn't arrive to share in this wonderful hunting and part of the laughs, as Russ has probably told you we had one damn fine hunt, and we do want you to know how much we appreciate all you did for us. I still want you to know that my back has gone unscratched and you shouldn't make promises and go back on them, but we will get even with you. All kidding aside we did appreciate all your kindness to us and hope to have the chance to reciprocate." In very good to fine condition, with a tear to the top edge. Accompanied by a photograph of Lombard and Gable out on a hunt. After eloping in March 1939, Gable and Lombard purchased a 20-acre ranch in Encino, California where the two would enjoy hunting trips.
