President Fillmore directs the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to “the ratification of the exchange copy of the supplementary commercial convention with the Netherlands, of the 26th of August last.” Signed neatly at the conclusion by Millard Fillmore. In fine condition, with multiple horizontal folds. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder. On August 26, 1852, the United States and the Kingdom of the Netherlands signed a Convention on Commerce, designed to supplement the 1839 Treaty of Commerce and Navigation. Also of note, Franklin Pierce replaced Fillmore as the President of the United States just 11 days after the latter signed this document.
