Lovely official commemorative medal issued for the Paris 1924 Summer Olympics. Gilt bronze, 60 mm, 83 gm, by Arthus Bertrand. The front features a beautiful raised profile of Marianne, the national symbol of the French Republic, wearing a Phrygian cap, encircled with the text, "Republique Francaise"; the reverse bears laurel branches, a central blank tablet, and raised text, “VIIIe Olympiade, Paris, 1924." Stamped “Bronze” on an edge. The medal bears some slight scuffing. Includes its original maroon paper box, which bears wear to edges and corners.
