American writer (1850-1895) best known for his poems of childhood, including 'Wynken, Blynken, and Nod' and 'Little Boy Blue.' ALS, one page, 5 x 7.75, April 21, 1894. Handwritten letter to "Dinkelspiel," in part: "You must call off that proposed dinner. It is very kind of you to want to honor me to that extent, but I do not want to be lionized in any such way. Moreover I am likely to be called home at any moment, as my wife is sick abed, and I am greatly worried about her." In very good to fine condition, with light staining to the top blank area.
