TLS, one page, 6 x 8.25, personal letterhead, May 25, 1950. Letter to Wanda Anne Tyler, in full: “In answer to your letter, a great many people are deeply worried today. While you are in school all you can do is to try to learn to understand the other peoples of the world. The future world will be a more cooperative one with more people thinking of the world as a whole. The United Nations is the machinery through which we all must work and I hope you will learn as much about it as you can. Plan with others wherever you are to improve the cooperation of the United States with all U.N. bodies. We are going to have to live in the world for sometime under the threat of war. The elimination of that threat is a slow process but it is what our world is now attempting to do. The struggle between communism and democracy has to be solved before we can have confidence in each other and work together cooperatively. Therefore, it is important to prove the values of democracy.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, which bears Roosevelt's stamped franking signature.
