Typed draft letter from the White Star Line's law firm Messrs. Hill, Dickinson & Co., sent to solicitor F. B. McDonough regarding his clients Thomas and Timothy Dooley, two pages, 8 x 10, November 1, 1915, in part: “Our clients the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company Ltd., have handed to us your letters…We must confess that we do not quite appreciate the point which you take, as our clients obviously could not have notified your clients Messrs Thomas & Timothy Dooley of regulations issued by the Home Office at a date subsequent to the departure of your clients from Ireland. Our clients issued a notice to all their agents immediately [when] they were in a position to do so…In the circumstance therefore we repudiate on behalf of our clients all liability to repay the expenses of the journey.” Both pages of the letter bear handwritten edits and corrections. In fine condition, with some light creasing.
