In 2013, 21 numbered copies of Face Value were signed in pencil by Bob Dylan on an official National Portrait Gallery bookplate, with the first three numbered examples retained by the publisher. Eight years later, on May 26, 2021, with zero pre-publicity and in celebration of Dylan’s 80th birthday, 12 additional copies were put on sale, each of which was signed in black felt tip by Dylan on a National Portrait Gallery bookplate. They were individually priced at £500 and were sold out in around two hours.
