The Beatles Yesterday and Today mono ‘third state' butcher cover (Capitol, T2553, 1966). This 'third state' version features the 'butcher' cover, the previously affixed 'trunk' cover pasteover having been professionally peeled from the album jacket to reveal the butcher cover underneath. The record is included. Encapsulated and graded by AMG with a grade of 5 (Good (G), Open, Packaging: 5, Media: 7). Accompanied by an AMG statement of archival.
Within days of releasing this miscellany of previous hits, Capitol recalled all copies in response to retailers' negative reactions to the original macabre cover image. The recalled copies were 'retrofitted' with a paste-over pictorial flat: an innocuous image of the boys posing around a steamer trunk; these new flats were frequently peeled away by collectors to reveal the infamous butcher image below.
