TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 7 x 9.25, personal letterhead, November 11, 1914. Letter to Rebecca F. Smith, in part: "It would have been a great pleasure for me to meet your father and talk over his acquaintance with my mother and my aunt. It must have been your father's pew in which my mother thought she could sit with a white dress without soiling it. I am not surprised that your father, growing up in such a healthy atmosphere, should be a Republican, and I am glad I received his vote." In fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
