John Sherman of Ohio, in part: "I do not know whether there is a vacancy now in the Commissary Dept…it has not been brought to my attention but when it is the case of Mr. C. will have my consideration. You know that I have tried to make all Army appointments strictly on the merit of the applicants. Mrs. Harrison has gained slightly in strength & for two days has been more comfortable." Impressively cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 23.5 x 24.5. In fine condition.
